And Sew On Fabrics is a friendly, family run business established in 1991. We stock a wide range of fabrics ranging from patchwork through to funishing and dressmaking, alongside haberdashery and other craft items.
We are situated inside a beautiful 18th century listed corn barn at the charming Blake House Craft Centre, located between Braintree and Great Dunmow. Alongside our shop, there is a fully licensed tea rooms, and other unique independent shops.
Shop Opening Times
10am ’til 5pm – Tuesday to Saturday inclusive
10.30am ’til 4pm – Sundays
Closed – Mondays

Quilting
Our shop is a quilt-makers dream, stocking everything you need for good quilting and patchworking.
Patchwork craft cottons we stock include Makower, Moda, Michael Miller, Riley Blake, Anbo, EQS, Robert Kaufman, Kaffe Fassett and Dashwood Studios. We offer many patchwork fabrics and accessories including wadding, pre-cuts, rotary cutters, cutting rules & boards, quilting threads and guide books.
To add detail to your quilt, we offer a range of buttons, ribbons and braids.
Furnishing
We stock a large range of furnishing, curtain and upholstery fabrics, along with many sample books with swatches available to order, trimmings, cord pulls, roman blind kits and lampshade making kits.
Makes we hold include Prestigious Textiles, iLiv and Clarke and Clarke. For each company we have several books available from which you can order cut lengths – we are also able to order samples in for you, or provide you with samples from our current stock.
In our shop we have folders for you to browse through and staff will be able to pull fabrics out for you and give you advise and calculations.
Dressmaking
Upstairs in our shop you will find a varied selection of dress-making fabrics, ranging from Fur to Fleece, Silk to Satin, Cotton to Calico, Linen to Lining.
Whether you want to make dresses for an occasion such as ballgowns or bridesmaids outfits, or are just looking to make something for every day use, we can help.
We are also stockists of the popular Simplicity and New Look dress-making patterns, feel free to browse the catalogues in our shop any time, then wander upstairs to find a suitable fabric! Staff will be able to advise you on the right fabric types and help you with sizing. We also have some patterns available from some independent brands such as Cashmerette, Chalk + Notch and Liberty.
